IRIS will have a booth regarding information about a program and the U.S. Department of State to place foreign exchange high school students in Iowa for one academic year. They will have a world trivia activity focusing on the countries where our exchange students come from at the booth.
Visit the Iowa Primate Learning Sanctuary booth which will be distributing brochures with information and are here to chat with Market patrons to help build awareness!
Are the children wanting something to do? Stop by the Iowa Department of Public Health booth for free face painting! They will also be giving out information about Hawk-i and PRAMS.
Check out a free clean water photo tree and story board activity! Market customers young and old a like can draw a picture or write a story or statement on why clean water is important to them. Then they will create a photo tree with all participants holding their story or drawing.
IAF will be providing free information on the group and their activities. They are available as a resource to religious non-believers.
Learn about IAA’s annual event, CelebrAsian, where IAA showcases many Asian cultures and villages that reside in Iowa. There will be information to pass out to market patrons. Sidewalk chalk will be available and will have entertainment.
Come visit this booth to learn more about First Unitarian Church-Human Rights Action Group. There would be a straw poll type voting box in which people could indicate the level of support for or against a Death with Dignity Law in Iowa after they have learned about it at the booth.
DRxUGS will discuss with Market customers various health care topics along with distributing educational fliers. They will provide multiple educational events for the Market patrons which range from sunscreen recommendations and summer skin care to how to properly dispose of prescription medications.
Visit this booth for information on the Des Moines Y Camp’s summer programs, outdoor education programs, and group retreats. They may have a climbing rope to teach knot tying or possibly animal furs to start the conversation about conservation and wildlife!
Thirsty? DMWW staff will have a mobile water filling station! They will also be giving away free water bottles to visitors (while supplies last) and providing free water to all visitors, including a dog dish for thirsty pooches!
Wanting to learn more about your diet? Take a quick questionnaire about your diet and medical students from Des Moines University will provide advice about nutritional adjustments. Also learn about benefits from eating certain Market foods!
Come visit the Des Moines Social Club booth and do an interactive art opportunity they will be putting on! Get your photo taken and learn more about the on going photo series.
