How to Become a Vendor

Applications for the 2012 Downtown Farmers’ Market season are expected to be available in January 2012.

To find answers to frequently asked questions and to read through our vendor acceptance process please read the Vendor Information Guide.

The main product at the Downtown Farmers Market is Iowa Grown and produced food products. As the Downtown Farmers Market has grown, the Market has become more attractive to vendors who sell various products. We are committed to choosing a product mix that is attractive to our customer, meanwhile keeping the balance of our Farmers Market intact. This includes locally produced produce, eggs, beef, poultry, elk, buffalo, baked goods, dairy, wine, jams, salsas, cut flowers, perennials, and bedding plants among other Iowa farm produced and value added product. We put a premium on products that are produced in Iowa and sold directly by the producer/grower; however this does not guarantee acceptance. While we recruit and encourage other high quality products, such as prepared food, artwork, crafts, and jewelry, we limit their availability at our farmers market.

It’s important to note that applicants are accepted based on the products they apply to sell. Due to our commitment to balancing product mix, as noted above, some categories are closed for application. Closed categories will not be open for application for current vendors and new applicants. Applications submitted for closed categories will not be reviewed and the application fee will not be refunded, so please be sure to review the Open/Closed category information (see Vendor Information Guide), which will be updated occasionally on our website with final postings prior to the Annual Application process.

If after reading the Vendor Information Guide you believe the product you wish to apply to sell qualifies for the Farmers’ Market vendor program and you would like to receive information and updates regarding the 2012 application process, you are welcome to create a vendor account. All applicants are required to use our online account and application process.

Creating an account is just like getting on a mailing list, so be sure to use a valid email address as this is the only way to receive information. Creating an account is NOT an application or in any way guaranteeing acceptance. Applications for the 2012 Downtown Farmers’ Market season are expected to be available in January 2012.
